Confessions of a Shopoholic Review and....

Y'all....I am SO tired. The drive back from Atlanta usually wears me out and today was no different.

I will say, though, that both the girls and I LOVED the movie.

This girl....
is absolutely adorable and perfect for the part.
She made the movie.

Because I am so tired and ....um...so lazy....I suggest y'all read this review from Entertainment Weekly. They liked it too.

Below are some of my own shopping confessions purchased today at the Target in the Tigertown Shopping Center in Auburn, which is about half-way between Enterprise and Atlanta, and where I always stop on my drive home.

Fun t-shirts

and four of them were marked down to $2.48 each!

Score!!!!!

(yes, I wear an XL in these t-shirts...
they're junior sizes and I like my t-shirts a little loose)

the Audrey t-shirt was marked down to $6.48
Maybe because it has bling on it???

EVERYBODY needs one of these bad boys.....

I also bought this skirt which was marked down from $29.90 (or something like that)
to $6.74

I ADORE the fabric and have lots of tops that will go with it
for the Spring and Summer

Now let's go watch LOST!!!

Shopoholic tonight!

My daughters and I are going to Phipps tonight to see Confessions of a Shopoholic. We've all been wanting to see it and the weekend was just too busy....so Tuesday night it is!

This photo reminds me of the clothes and frivolity of the Shopoholic book and the commercials I've seen for the movie. Not to mention the fact that I love everything about it: the dresses, the hair, the jewelry, the CAKES....

Movie review tomorrow!

A chilly Sunday in Atlanta....

As usual it's been non-stop since I arrived.

I won't bore y'all with all the details of furniture re-arranging, shopping, visits to the dog park and looking at houses with Little P and her husband.

Well....I guess I HAVE to tell you about the one house we looked at today that had been a foreclosure.

The former occupants were obviously highly pissed at losing the house.

So pissed that they removed everything they could from the house to include:

*light fixtures in every room

*knobs off every kitchen cabinet and bathroom cabinet

*floor heating and cooling vent covers (which left gaping holes in the floors)

*hot tub which was apparently cut out of the deck with a chain saw leaving the deck in shreds

*and my personal favorite:

The toilet and the sink from the downstairs half bath

yeah, you read it right:

The toilet and the sink

ripped those suckers right out of the floor.

That took some imagination.

Now from the ridiculous to the sublime:

I purchased this Giclee at Ballard's Backroom today

This photograph doesn't do it justice.

It's quite large and quite lovely.

Every time I see it in the store, I admire it.

Today it was on mega sale: 40% off and then an additional 20% off.

I couldn't resist that and now it's mine.

You can't see it clearly, but to the side of the dress it says

"Fell in love with....

and I did...the first time I saw it.

Atlanta again....

Y'all know how much my daughters and I love to redecorate.

Both girls just purchased the same piece of furniture that I have here in our den for our flat screen.

It's a very classic looking (think Pottery Barn) solid teak credenza.

It's sooooooooooooo great having a friend who owns a furniture store. :)

So tomorrow morning I'm driving our truck to Atlanta take one of them to my oldest daughter's house.

I'm keeping the other one here until Little Pissy and her husband move into their new house.

Then I'll make another trip to deliver hers.

We seriously need to invest in a U-Haul.

Thanks, Gloria....

“ Some of us are becoming the men we wanted to marry."

~Gloria Steinem

I think the quote applies more to women of my generation.

I know that I raised my daughters with the goal of being a successful woman in every sense of the word.

My foremost goal in raising them: that they never have to depend on a man to support them financially.

I was from a place where I was taught to look for, marry and then depend on the best man I could find. My mother....bless her heart....even gave me parameters to follow.

You can see why this quote struck home with me.

Cape San Blas weekend

I know it's been almost a week since I posted.

Y'all have probably noticed that my posts have become fewer and shorter. I'm seriously considering taking the blog in a different direction. When I decide exactly what that is, I'll post about it. Until then....if anyone wants to stop by, there will be posts like the one below. Pictures of places I've been, products I like (no, I'm not doing "pay-per-post"), home decor and gardening posts, book and movie reviews......sort of what I've been doing. Only more of it.

So.....Friday the 13th we drove down to Cape San Blas, Florida for a long weekend with friends and relatives. We'd never been there before and absolutely loved it. It was very much "old Florida" to me. NO condos, high rises, no big nightclubs, fancy restaurants......just gorgeous beaches and houses and friendly, down-to-earth people. *sigh*

Here are some pictures in no particular order, because as y'all know....Blogger is a bitch about uploading pictures. Grrrrrrrr.....

Wednesday health update and tulips!

So... here I am....fresh from the eye doctor.

(Eyes still dilated)

The "spot" on my eyelid is just that: a spot.
Granted....it's a spot that we'll keep an eye (hee!) on from here on out.
I go back in one year unless I notice any changes.
The spot was measured, etc. and I felt comfortable with the doctor
(who I'd never seen before).

Can y'all feel my huge sigh of relief ???

My eyes were also checked for macular degeneration, which
two previous eye exams detected.

This doctor told me that only my right eye is very slightly affected
and that vitamins will help with that.

Also good news!

To celebrate....and just because I love them
I bought myself a bouquet of tulips.

Here are some pictures

Which may be blurry

Eyes dilated, remember?

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

Travels and Wednesday health update

I'm heading to Atlanta tomorrow with a truck load of furniture for a friend. Lots and lots of redecorating will be going on. Woot!

I'll be in Atlanta until next Tuesday....busy, busy!

I'm especially excited because while I'm there we're going to a dance competition (friend owns a studio) Saturday night AND I'm going to a decorating class at Pottery Barn Sunday morning with both my girls. Fun!

While I'm there I hope things calm down enough for me to visit all your blogs. :)

Oh! I'm going to include my Wednesday update on the healthy lifestyle/weight loss issue:

I did really well last week with my weight training sessions....three with trainer.....

AND

Walked outdoors four days.....three miles each time. Trainer wants us to do at least 4 or 5 days per week....I'd like to work up to walking 5 days a week and up my mileage to 4 miles. But with being out of town for the next week....and then leaving again on the 13th for 4 days....it will be hard to accomplish that this month. I think I'll make that my March goal.

I'm still having issues with eating too much of the wrong things. When it's cold weather, I want to eat hot, toasty, yummy comfort food.

Sigh.....
