Thanks, Friends!

Thank you SO much for the helpful, informative comments regarding "flu shot or no flu shot".

After reading all the comments and considering my age, current work situation, the fact that I live in a BIG city now as opposed to a small town, I've decided to get both the flu shot and the H1N1 shot.

I thought this little cartoon was cute......

    i loved that cartoon..think it was a stumble once...
    if you live in a big city and come in contact with a lot of people, it's probaby smart to get one or both. You probably come in contact with more people in a week than I do in a year..ha...

    Well....you know....for the past 20+ years I've lived in a fairly small town. I came into contact with a lot of people through my job and never had the flu and never had the shot. Go figure! LOL

    Now that I'm in one of the biggest cities in the country it just seems like a smart thing to do.

    We get shots every year. Impossible to say if it helps- you never know what might have happened, but I'm a believer in the science behind the program.

    I am having my grandaughter (one year old) vaccinated, as well as my pregnant daughter. They are the target demographic for this particular strain of flu. Though there is still some controversy on the side effects of the vaccination on a baby in utero, this flu can result in the death of my daughter. The way I see it, if anything happens to the baby, we will deal with it after she delivers. That's in God's hands, not mine. But, I want my daughter with me, as selfish as that sounds...so we made the decision to get the shot. As for me, I am forgoing it due to allergies.

    My son (14) just had swine flu (confirmed test). It was brutal for him as he already has respiratory issues...but we got through it with Tamiflu within the first 48 hours, rest and fluids. Plus, having a nurse for a mom didn't hurt matters.

    Good luck with your decision, love. Do what you feel is best for you.
