First flowers

I've been looking around for some hanging baskets to place at my front door.

Stopped by Pike Nursery in Toco Hills on the way home from work
and picked up these beauties:

Red verbena and purple sweet potato vine....

and here they are hanging at their new home
Love them!

Now to do something with that ground cover..... ;-)

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!!!

Afternoon Azaleas

Aren't they pretty?

I cut them off some huge bushes behind Devon's house today.

Thanks, Dev! :)

In other news:

Gracie and I went to our first dog obedience class
at PetSmart this morning.

There were three dogs total.

All about the same age.

Gracie pretty much just sat next to me or laid
on the floor.

She didn't respond to treats or attention from the instructor
or from me. She simply wanted to chill and observe.

I can't decide if this is good or not.

Does this mean she's going to be hard to train?

Any advice and/or thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks!

p.s. above photo taken in my living room looking out onto the deck.
I haven't posted pictures of the new place yet, because I'm not finished with it. ;-)

Gracie: Day 4

Gracie is doing SO well!

I don't know anything about where she came from, but she was obviously socialized. She's friendly with people, but not overly so. Doesn't jump on them or bark or growl. She just sort of stops, looks at them and allows them to touch her.

The thing that amazes me the most is that I have yet to hear her bark.

I KNOW!

Not one time. I've heard her growl~at Reuben when she wanted a toy he had. Other than that: nothing.

She and I will be out walking on the sidewalk of a busy city street....lots of traffic going by....she doesn't pay any attention to it or let it bother her in any way. She just sniffs her way down the street.

She stays in her (lined with a fleece-y pillow) crate while I'm gone. She has a couple of small toys in there with her. Toys she brought with her. I've had to leave her for as long as 6 hours (sad face) and she's been fine. No accidents or any signs of distress. I DO leave the TV on for her and the windows open...a ceiling fan going, etc. When I arrive back home she doesn't make a sound. Just waits for me to let her out of her crate and then bounds down the stairs so we can go out.

Gracie has slept all night every night since she came home with me. I wake up before she does in the mornings.

All of the above behavior is totally new to me and I've had dogs for over 20 years. Maybe it's because they were all males and more aggressive? A personality thing? I don't know.

But it's a wonderful thing. :)

Here are some pictures from this morning:

Gracie heard the children from the main house out in the yard.
She went to the window to investigate.
She looked, but didn't make a sound.

After deciding there was no threat, she just sat and looked out for awhile.

Now she's sleeping on the couch next to me.

I wonder if she could give Buster and MoMo lessons in how to be chill? ;-)

Gracie

This is Gracie.

I brought her home today after meeting
her at a pet store where they bring
rescues for adoption.

I've been wanting to adopt a fur baby
for awhile now.
I knew I wanted a girl this time.

Gracie and her brother were
dumped at a shelter without
even giving the shelter people
their names.

So the people at the shelter named the girl pup
"Grace" and her brother "Ace".

Ace was adopted today too. :)

I have a feeling Gracie and I are gonna be
good for each other.

I'm feeling better, thanks!

I actually emerged from my cozy bed cocoon
yesterday and went to work.

I have to admit that after 9 hours of
wrangling a 2 year old and a 10 month old
I was exhausted.

However, I think that would have been the
case even if I hadn't been (sorta) sick.

I adore those children, but thank goodness
I normally only have them both
for a couple of hours a day.

~and~

I only work 5 hours today.

Whew!!!!

p.s. I'm reminded on a daily basis why I had my children 3.5 years apart!

Guess what the Easter Bunny brought me?

A sinus infection AND an ear infection.

Happy Easter to ME!

I had planned to go with Little Pissy and her husband
to a family farm Easter celebration.

I was SO looking forward to it!

I had to cancel due to being a booger monster. :(

Have spent the entire weekend in bed
self-medicating and feeling crappy

Decided late this afternoon to go to a doc-in-a-box.

Good thing I did.

Antibiotics are a wonderful thing.

Staying home from work tomorrow.

Caring for a 2 year old and a 10 month old will not help
my recovery.

Hope everyone had a better weekend than I did!
