it's more a case of "I'm gettin' used to it".
I've posted before about how we don't have anything even slightly resembling
a Starbucks here in Hell.

The closest one is a 30 minute drive away.
And even then there are only two: a kiosk in Target and a sort-of-cafe in Barnes and Nobles.
So....I'd settled on buying these
in 4-packs.When I first started buying them around a year ago, the 4 pack cost five bucks.
Sometimes I could get a 4 pack on sale for less than that.
Not too bad for something that I really enjoyed.
Then....they went up to $6.00 a 4-pack.
...and that's at Wal-mart....AND the local Dollar General.
For some reason, paying $1.50 a bottle for those little suckers just got to me.
It's just too much.
Don't ask me why.....it just IS.
Now....I've switched to this
A regular iced coffee from McDonald's.A "regular" cost $2.19 before tax
and that's for a 20 oz. cup.
Yes, there is a lot of sugar in it.
and no, it doesn't taste quite as good as the Frap.
But in a way, that's better.
I can't keep a 4-pack in my fridge...
conveniently available for consumption at any time
and the McDonald's here is such a pain in the ass to get to that I probably
won't go to the trouble of getting one very often.
Guess I should just trying making iced coffee myself, huh?

Oh, Pissy, just go buy a pound of really good coffee and brew it up, put it in the fridge and make your own. That's what we do, and I love it. I use skim milk in mine, and I'm afraid to even ask how many calories are in those costly babies!

ReplyDeleteI love iced coffee too and make it for myself. Take room temperature (or chilled coffee), made a little stronger than usual, add Splenda (or sugar if you prefer) and then a splash of the International Coffee creamers (flavor of choice). Mix all together, pour over ice - yummers!!! Promise you won't be disappointed.

ReplyDeleteStarbucks is goin down, so you aint missin nuthin. They closed bout 15% of them in Memfrika last month. They too expensive.
I loves the McD's iced coffee, but gained like a heffer when I was a'drinkin them ever day. The are jam packed with sugar and not a choice of fat/sugar free. They use whole milk too so I hear'd.
I picked up sugar free coffee syrup and used skid milk and splenda to make mine, cause I stays 'way from Memfrika much as I can and sticks to the acreage and does my thing uppin here. :-)
We just got a starbucks on the corner across from the Kroger that has one in it too. I think they're taking over the world. There are 5 in a 7 mile radius. I at first limited to twice a week, then once a week, now I make my own coffee at home and as a treat I get one once a month or so... It is a cheaper habit than, oh say crack!
