The "Bible"

I know what you're thinking... Gee, Pissy sure never seemed religious...

Not to anger anyone with regards to their religious convictions (a whole other topic~maybe another day), but the "bible" I'm referring to is my "bible". You know....the TV Guide.

I have to say, I was completely aghast when I heard the news that the format was being changed. Need I say it? I thought it was sacrilege!

Why change it now? After all, I'd ( and as we all know: its all about me!) been happy with it for years. I was pissed! I bitched about it to Little Pissy for weeks after the announcement was made. Just ask her.

Does it seem like I bitch alot? Yeah, I think so too.

Anyway....
The "new" format was going to change from "digest" size to full size. From traditional to "glossy" . There would be more articles. More interviews. More columns. More pictures. More gossip. "What the hell did they need more gossip for?" I would rant to Little P. "That's why we have "People" and "In Touch" and all those gossip rags !" "Leave TV Guide alooooonnnee!" But no. The "changes" took place even after all my bitching!

I should say, my obsession with TV in general and TV Guide in particular is well known amongst my friends, family and co-workers. Their sorry asses won't even consider looking at a TV listing
~not even about "their" shows~ones I don't even watch . Why should they? They can just ask me, right? Sadly, I almost always know. Bitches. They know me so well...

But you know what? I like the "new" TV Guide. I know. I'm admitting I was wrong about something... but I am. I'm loving it~ the size, the pictures, the new columnists, the glossiness.

And Little Pissy is relieved. She doesn't have to listen to me bitch anymore. Not about this anyway....

  3. How can you go wrong with more glossiness?

I think "bumper" edition is just an extra edition on top of the regular edition you already get.

These darn Brits, always making up weird terms for simple things. ;)

  4. Phoenix: you're so right about the Brits! :)

Yeah, the "new" TV Guide pretty much had me at "glossy" once I saw it! :)

  12. a bumper edition is like the whole of christmas and new years week TV listings all in one mag ( they are usually weekly).Oh and a whole bunch of other stuff like how to produce the perfect turkey etc.

  14. I have to admit that since the "change" I haven't even read one thing. I absolutely HATE the new TV Guide. I even hate saying the name. I have subscribed for 15 years and will be cancelling as soon as my (jail) term is up.

I tried to look up a listing for the weekend during the day and THERE'S NOTHING LISTED DURING WEEKEND DAYS! Arrrrrrr.....

I like knowing what's on T.V. When I want to read about movies and T.V., I read my Entertainment Weekly.

*Stepping down from my soap box*

Sorry to rant on your blog, but it's been waiting to come out for a while.

    ::kisses::

  15. Jenn: Please. You are SO not ranting. Ranting was all that "Mae/Sara/Ashley Simpson" crap yesterday. HAHAHA!
I noticed too that there are no weekend daytime listings. It took me a while to get used to it. I use the TV Guide channel alot. And really, as much as I bitched and thought I was gonna hate the new format, I really do love it. Guess its just the gossip lover in me :) Sorry you hate it :( But I do know what you mean....I'm ready for my subscription to "O" (Oprah) magazine to be over..... :)

  18. I'm old enough to remember when the TV Guide was just a little thing you picked up at the store for 35 cents. And it actually had listings you could read in it! While I don't "hate" the new version, I'm not overly impressed with it. Sorry to rain on your parade.. :)

  19. Bruce: I remember that too...and even WORSE, I remember when 'People' magazine cost 35 cents! Damn I'm old!!! :)

  20. Heh...I remember when there was no People Magazine...
