Now just think of all the time I've saved y'all! No standing around at the video store wondering if you should rent "Last Holiday"......no bothering to put it in your Netflix que.....

Really....it was my pleasure to perform this public service.

  2. Soylent Green....I remember this movie. I didn't know it's being shown still. I saw this movie way way back during my single years. It was a nice movie and sometimes I wish this would come true. Not that I'm being morbid or something but I find it practical.
    Hi! Here from Dr. John.

  4. I wanted to see Last Holiday when it was at the theater. I missed it, but I got it later from Netflix. I was SOOOOOOOO happy I didn't spend alot of $$$ going to see it, because I was disappointed too. It was blahhhhh. I agree, as always.... :)

  6. mr fab: thank you! I consider it a public service. ;-)

friday's child: I saw Soylent Green back when if first came out too. I was really surprised to find it on Turner Classic Movies. It really makes several valid statements~especially about euthanasia.

    thanks for stopping by!

yd granny: Soylent Green was a great movie.... I was excited to find it on. Hadn't heard about the semi chase...5 hours? Damn!

shpprgrl: I was that same way about Last Holiday~wanted to see it at the theater and missed it.

There you go~reading my mind again! ;-)

phats: I've been a movie person my whole life. :)

I love Queen Latifah~she's great! But any of her other movies are better than this.....

  7. I have never seen Soylent Green but have heard a lot about it. Maybe I'll have to give it a whirl, but I'm still reeling from the original version of The Fly that I saw last weekend...

  8. "Soylent green is people!" Ahh, yes, we've heard that one before, huh? Actually... guess what? I've never seen it! I need to rent it some time. Haven't seen the Queen Latifah and after reading your review, I'll probably skip it. Thanks, Pissy!

  9. Hah! We watched Soylent Green on TCM this afternoon too. Main Man and the boys heckled through the whole show.

Didn't you wonder about the lax security in the "Top Secret" Soylent Green processing plant?

And why does everyone have sliding doors in the future? What do they know that we don't?

  10. I wanted to see Last Holiday but when I finally got it I couldn't watch all of it. It just felt like a waste of time.

  11. I'm thanking ya ahead of time.

But I'd really like that dress Queen Latifah's wearing in that pic. Can ya get your hands on that sucker for me?

  12. I almost watched "Soylent Green". Was it on yesterday? I know it was on AMC sometime this weekend.

You think "Last Holiday" was bad? I watch "Deuce Bigelow-Europeon Gigelo" last night. Painful is the only way I can describe it. I didn't rent it, thank god, someone lent it to us.

  13. I saw Last Holiday in the theater. WHAT A JOKE!!! I really only enjoyed a total of about 10 minutes. It was so slow and stupid. They could have really done a better job.

I have NEVER heard of the other movie. I will have to check it out!

I watched Basic Instinct 2. Not sure what I think about it. I kept falling asleep and having to rewind. Then I totally slept through the end. By that point I said, Forget it. The movie isn't worth repeating over and over again.

  17. Ah, Soylent Green! Yummy! :) And I absolutely agree about Last Holiday. I put it on my Netflix queue because Roger Ebert raved about it...and I found it rather dull and predictable. Ah, well.

Hey Pissy, maybe you could make this a series...giving us your expertise and saving us the trouble of making wrong decisions :)

Give Moose a pat from me! :)

  22. Soylent Green I am off to the video store now...
    Thanks for the tip...
But what were you thinking with Last Holiday...

  27. dramedy girl: you should watch Soylent Green~it's really pretty good.

I remember the original "the Fly"...freaked me out!!!

kc: It's kinda cheesy in a 70's sorta way....but it does have a great performance by Edward G. Robinson and some messages that are still relevant today.

library mama: I wondered the same thing at the scene in "the plant"! I was thinking: "Man, that was way too easy!"

as for the sliding doors: doorknobs are bad? ;-)

samantha: I kept watching it with a sense of morbid curiousity as to how much worse it could get....

buddha girl: you are so welcome! that is a cool dress, isn't it? She wore some beautiful clothes in the movie...

nonny: soylent green was on yesterday. on Turner Classic Movies...which I love b/c no commercials!

I am proud to say that I've never see either of the Deuce Bigalowe movies. And I plan to keep it that way!

Sunny: That's exactly what I thought about "Last Holiday"~they could have done a better job! Lots of wasted talent....

I'm not going to bother with Basic Instinct 2. I'm not a Sharon Stone fan anymore....

Pud: Soylent Green probably came out before you were born! :)

Catch: I can watch movies like that too! Especially during the winter or when my daughters are here with me!

Moose is doing great! Thanks for asking! :)

Mimi: You should watch it. It's good!

Rhys: "Dull and predictable"....exactly! If I'd been doing 3 word reviews that would've been it! I've actually done this "review" thing before. With 3 movies....just a few weeks ago. :)

I will give Moose a pat for you~he loves attention!

limpy: classic line.....I think even people who've never seen the movie have heard that line! ;-)

    de: you heard right!

Jerry: He was great, wasn't he?

jmeped: you really should. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

pendullum: I was thinking: "I like Queen Latifah. I loved Beauty Shop...I should like this". That and the heat=bad combination. ;-)

    thanks for stopping by!

    bruce: it was great!

Justin: I loved her in that movie with Steve Martin....

    hippo: yes she does!

nope, haven't seen Hidalgo. Isn't it some sort of Western?

    signgurl: You should! :)
