3 movies....3 reviews.....3 words.....

Yeah, so I'm trying to get my money's worth out of Netflix, o.k.?

I can only recommend one of these this week.

If you decide to see the other two, don't say I didn't warn you....

Movie: "The Matador"My review: "career defining performances"

Movie: "Failure to Launch"

My review: "failure to entertain"

Movie: "The Pink Panther"

My review: "bad, bad kitty"

  2. Disagree with you on the Pink Panther... I was a huge Peter Sellers fanatic... and it was great to see his legacy continue. Wasn't the greatest Panther movie, but was good anyway.

  3. katt: I'm gonna have to rent some just to see what all your excitement is about Fernando! :)

hippo: My husband and I really tried to like it. We both gave up on it and didn't even watch the entire movie. I felt that Steve Martin just tried to hard.

I was a huge Peter Sellers fan too...loved all the original Pink Panther movies.

But this one was just awful~in my opinion.

  6. Sadly, we'd already watched the new Pink Panther - nowhere near as good as the old Peter Sellers ones.

    The Matador sounds fun, though.

  7. I haven't seen ANY of those. I will definitley check out the 1st, fo' sho'! THanks Pissy Poo

  8. Thanks for the reviews! I saw Freedomland this weekend with Samuael Jackson and Julianne Moore. If you haven't seen it already it is excellent. I also saw Into The Blue which was better than I thought it would be.

  9. cynical girl: I thought it was great! Pierce Brosnon did an amazing job.

yd granny: Wow! That was intense! ;-)

erin: The Matador is really good! Sorry that you wasted your time on Pink Panther....

nwgirl: I think The Matador is something that both you and NWGuy would like. Really. It's SO not a chick flick!

mimi: I have Freedomland in my que. Is "Into the Blue" that movie with Jessica Alba?

  10. The Matador was interesting...I could do without the speedo, though.

  11. I'll test out the matador - thanks.

  12. I'll definitely be checking out The Matador...looks like my kinda movie.

In fact I might go rent it tonight - kids are gone and nothing much planned for this evening's activities.

  13. Yeah it is. It does have a lot of shots to show her body of course. But the story is not bad and though the effects are few they are really good.

  14. I liked FTL, I love MM. He's cute. The Pink Panther was weird. Haven't seen the other one.

  15. justin: I thought the speedo was funny...so something his character would do...

rat and monk: I think both of you will really like The Matador!

mimi: I should get it...I like her as an actress, anyway.

shpprgrl: I wanted to like FTL...I love SJP and MM....I was let down.... what was up with all those animals attacking? made no sense...

  16. I already watched Failure to launch. I love SJP in anything! I wouldnt watch the Pink Panther...but I will watch Matador. I dont read that movie review in the Peoples magazine anymore...I go by Pissy! LoL.

I saw Freedon Land too and I thought it was great.

  17. your reviews made me laugh

and no artsy pretension to go with the review like the dudes on TV

    just truthful opinion

    ----

i've only ever seen a few steve martin movies i liked: The Jerk was OK in spots... Roxanne. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Sgt. Bilko was OK sort of, Three Amigos was good, and Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid was alright

Martin can't really carry anything all by himself - he works better in team stuff in my opinion.

  18. Nice to see you have our best interest @ heart. And saving us a couple of bucks to boot.

  19. I though that Failure to Launch was decent, although it would have been better had they used someone other that Sarah Jessica Parker. Her little scream got on my nerves.

I have Annapolis and Shes the Man to watch.

  20. Your so good at this. Two words or three words, you really sum up all we need to know.

I probably wouldn't rent any of those. But now I'll watch "The Matador" if it comes on regular television.

Did I ever tell you I'm the cheapest bitch on the planet-nuff said.

  21. catch: heh! Oh, please don't give up on People's movie review! ;-) I love SJP too, I just didn't think she had any chemistry with MM....

I'm gonna have to watch "Freedomland"!

cad: no pretention here....;-) I could say more...give more of my opinion, but boiling it down seemed more fun!

I'm actually a Steve Martin fan. This movie was just....dumb...

Mike: I consider it a public service! ;-)

kristie: You noticed the scream too?!? I found myself watching for it....and what what what! Was up with all those animals attacking?

I don't know much about Anapolis...is it sorta like "An Officer and a Gentleman"? Naval version?

nonny: heh! it's kinda fun to try to come up with the best way (in my opinion) to describe them....

I don't know if you'll ever see "the Matador" on tv...unless you're talking about HBO or Showtime or one of those other paycable channels. It's got some explicit sex scenes, etc.

I didn't know you were cheap! Go you! You probably have all kinds of $ in the bank!

  22. I like Steve Martin, but re-making a Peter Sellers classic is a definite no-no. There was only one Pink Panther.

  23. I love me some netflix...I too try to watch as much as I can. I never really knew why, but now I know. I too want to get my money's worth.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'm just going to go along with the crowd here. There was no reason to remake The Pink Panther. Steve Martin has been embarassing himself lately.

  25. I did rent Matador last night and was happily entertained. Good stuff!

    ReplyDelete
  26. bruce: I agree completely!

katy: I really probably don't use it as much as I should....I'm trying to be better. It's just so easy to let them sit and not watch them since there are no late fees...

limpy: glad you're on board with us! :)

monk: I'm so happy that you liked it! I thought it was great!

  27. Matador is on my "must-see" list. I doubt if I'll see Failure, tho, because (now don't throw things at me) I really can't stand SJP. I'll only see the Pink Panther if Hubby wants to see it, otherwise... NO.

I don't have Netflix, but I do have the MVP account at Hollywood Video. I can check out 3 movies at a time, as many times as I want a month for $14. Works for me. I chose it over Netflix because I like to browse through the shelves and decide what I want at that moment, not what's on my waiting list through the mail.

  28. kc: it really is a must see! I had a membership at a video store that I really liked. then I got tired of them being out of what I wanted....

  29. We just rented The Pink Panter tonight, haven't watched it yet, hope it is good. Did you give a thumps up or down on the Failure to launch.?

    ReplyDelete
  30. ah, I got it, failure to entertain.....

that is how I felt about You, Me and Dupree.......wasn't worth the bucks.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Shut up! You mean to tell me that you didn't like Failur to Launch? LOVED IT and BOUGHT IT!
