My so-called life.....

This is my messy kitchen "junk" drawer.

It looks this way mostly because Sweet Man tends to dig though it looking for something rather than carefully moving things around to look.

*sigh*

Before

Consequently........I spent part of the afternoon going through the mess and organizing the contents.

After

Try.

Just try to imagine the excitement here at the casa this afternoon.

I'm off to roll pennies now.

  3. Hi big pissy,
WOW!! You did an admirable job of getting that kitchen junk drawer tidied up! Congratulations on having the intestinal fortitude to see it through to completion. I hope “sweet man” appreciates all your hard work, and doesn’t mess it up again real soon.

After seeing your before and after pictures, I think I know what my next “project” is going to be!

  4. Let's start a pool on how long it will take for Sweet Man to mess it up.

I'm going with 9 days. I'm a positive thinker, Pissy!

  5. hot lips: You mean you didn't already?!?!?!

mr fab: I've thought of how it might not last.

I'll have to resort to threats.

    It's worked before.

Miss litzi: Hi! Thanks! I'm please with it. Been wanting to do it for a while now....

See above on how I'll deal with Sweet Man messing it up. ;-)

katt: Why not? I've done it for other people.

  8. OMG... WHAT have you done????

How can a MAN find anything in a drawer that looks like that.

MEN type drawers are MEANT to look like the first photo.

Damn... You women just don't understand.

    :)

  12. I give it a week at best. I almost got deja vu when I saw your drawer. The batteries, the papers that are for nothing. I think every house in America has a junk drawer. It's the glue that holds this fine country together.

  13. It feels good to accomplish something like that. Yeah, how long will it last?

  14. Wow... who knew it had a drawer liner? Good work. Now come to Atlanta and unpack my boxes. :) Just so you know- i may not make it home this weekend. I'm still pretty weak and the place is a mess because I can't unpack it and Big A won't unpack without me... Sigh.

  15. You've really inspired me Pissy! On my way home from work today, I'm going to buy some little organizers like yours. Since we've only been in the new house 2 weeks, the junk drawer hasn't gotten bad yet, but I want to nip it in the bud now before things get ugly. Because you know they will.

  18. buddha girl: *sigh* start the pool....I'm sure this won't last...

nowhere girl: just one more service I provide.... ;-)

pud: I'll try not to over-exert myself!

60: I know....Sweet Man kinda suggested that same thing when he saw it....

erin: Thanks! Nah, I really didn't find anything too interesting....just a lot of soy sauce packets from chinese take-out and instruction booklets for small electronics we no longer own. ;-)

    pixie: Of course!

lori: thats what I'm talking about!

library mama: When should I be at your house? ;-)

nonny: I totally agree with you. If it lasts longer than a week, it's from sheer force of will....

shpprgrl: it does and who knows? :)

little p: I know, right? I'd forgotten about the liner myself. and I put it there!

I'm sorry you're still not feeling well....I'd come unpack for you~you know that. But I think Big A would probably rather you two do it.

But if he changes his mind~just let me know!

kc: There ya go! Nip it in the bud! ;-)

hippo: Pissy is NOT messy! Although I find it interesting that you find it sexy..... ;-)

webmizris: I think everybody does! :)

  19. Whatnot drawers don't stay organized for long due to the fact that a clean whatnot drawer just invites more whatnots to jump on in.

  20. i call it the "magic" drawer

that's because anytime my kids are looking for anything they look in the magic drawer first - usually they will carry something away

i remember one night i gathered all the scissors (except sewing ones) and put them in the magic drawer

when i came home from work the next day they were all gone (5)

yes, the magic/junk drawer - endless source of interesting stuff and the first place to look

and don't get me started on pennies

    ----

    nice drawer - very neat

    well done

    ----

oh, and by the way honey, where are those two d-cell batteries i saw in the first picture

    do we have any left?

or, hey, where's that tape - i thought it was in the drawer too?!

  21. hey let me know if i can donate to the giant father's day present you guys are giving dad! I never know what to get him...

  22. fuzzbox: those damn little whatnots!

cadbury: Heh! I love your story!

and very observant to notice that I'm out of tape!

de: call City Penguin. She's handling things. Don't email her b/c she doesn't have internet access right now. Or call me. Or I'll call you.

    Jeez! now I'm tired!

  23. Awesome job Pissy!! I really really do need to do mine.

  24. we are always out of tape

my daughter can tape anything (arts and crafts girl)

there are three things always missing in my house courtesy of my kids (other than the money being coughed up every day for whatever - it's to the point where i make a point of having appropriate change in my pocket so they don't wander away with 20s all the time[ sure i'll give you the change dad... says happy face or teen boy])

anyway 3 things are always missing - scissors, tape, and bandages - in that order

i have a special tape stash hidden in my room from every one else including my wife who will always give up the tape to the crafty girl - even when its from the tape stash...

    (sorry to rant)

  25. So HOW LONG (most probably a figure in tenths of seconds) did that last?

    ReplyDelete
  26. i love those little white bin thingys. i always intend to organize every drawer with them, but i think looking at your picture will tide me over. thanks!

  27. cadbury: I understand how it is when kids still live in the house with you. I could never find ANYTHING when Little P still lived here.

Oh, I bought tape today! ;-)

    Dutchie: So far, so good!

jo-dee: heh! glad I could help!
